Adjacent to the highly polished heart of downtown Walnut Creek, this 1950's-era shopping center was in need of a face-lift:
- façade & storefront renovations
- construction of a 48-foot tall
enclosed tower structure as a landmark
element
- 300 feet of custom-designed architectural
parking lot fencing
- modifications to existing plaza,
parking lot and sidewalks to accommodate
handicap accessibility
- paint, awnings, landscaping and architectural elements
The tower
construction was particularly challenging.
While three legs of the tower were
outside of the building footprint,
the fourth had to be supported by
the roof structure so as not to take
up valuable interior retail space.
The fourth leg required a matrix
of steel and glulam beams installed
above the ceiling to transfer the
weight to exterior walls.
